One of the great surprises is seeing a huge ocean ship travelling across the fields on the way to the West Sacramento rice harbor. It looks like a fantasy because of the huge size rolling across the delta wetlands and farms. As you get closer you see it looks like a skyscraper on its side moving very quickly across the landscape.
Our rice export is one of the highest quality and is coveted across the world. Our Calrose rice has been grown since here 1948 and has won international competitions around the globe. These massive ships take our California bounty from West Sacramento to the world.
I was very happy to find the a place for the commercial harbor on the west edge of the Bike Route map. It brings our greater connection to the world back home.
